Summary/Objective

The Used Car Director will be responsible for planning, organizing and managing the activities and performance of the Used Car Sales Departments for multiple locations in achieving used vehicle unit sales, PVR as well as adherence to policies and process. The position is responsible for ensuring that each assigned departments actualizes its maximum profit potential on used car sales in accordance with dealership and corporate established goals.

Essential Functions

  • Directs and schedules the work of the employees in the Used Car Sales Departments

  • Forecasts goals and objectives for the department

  • Meets all goals and objectives for the department including but not limited to response rate, floor traffic, appointments set, departmental sales goals and personal sales goals

  • Ensures sales personnel are motivated, trained and professional with regard to customer interactions.

  • Ensures inventory mix and pricing to market. Move inventory among stores to maximize retail opportunities

  • Inventory Manager for the market

  • Obtains and exceeds budgets for Volume and PVR

  • Trains the Used Vehicle Manager on business processes

  • Drives effective merchandising of vehicles including all point-of-purchase materials

  • Partners with Service Departments to manage reconditioning of used vehicles

  • Forecasts market results by store

  • Engages and motivates the team to achieve key goals, performance expectations and best practice processes

  • Drives the business through a high-level of involvement in the day-to-day operations

  • Manages controllable expense elements for the market Used Vehicle Departments

  • Organizes auction activities

  • Analyzes the business to determine shortfalls and developing action plans to improve performance

  • Supervises employees to ensure that facilities are clean and efficient

  • Works together with the General Manager, devise monthly and annual goals for the Sales department

  • Establishes and maintains active programs to follow up sales. Prepare and present reports to the General Manager when needed

  • Meets budgeted revenue and expense goals

  • Attends pertinent training as available to keep current with sales department concerns and sales techniques

  • Maintains a professional appearance and a neat work area for self and subordinates

  • Follows all attendance and punctuality standards with adherences to timekeeping standards including recording time of arrival, departure and all breaks for self and subordinates

  • Understands and follows work rules and procedures

  • Follows lawful directions from supervisors

  • Upholds the company's non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements

  • Attends company meetings as required

  • Other duties as assigned
