General Tasks & Duties:

Summary/Objective

The Used Car Director will be responsible for planning, organizing and managing the activities and performance of the Used Car Sales Departments for multiple locations in achieving used vehicle unit sales, PVR as well as adherence to policies and process. The position is responsible for ensuring that each assigned departments actualizes its maximum profit potential on used car sales in accordance with dealership and corporate established goals.

Essential Functions

  • Develop Internal and External Wholesale process

  • Acquire retail and qualified certified preowned units for maximized profitability and maintain a network of preowned inventory suppliers

  • Maintain adequate preowned inventory on a daily basis

  • Forecasts goals and objectives for the market

  • Meets all goals and objectives for the market

  • Ensures inventory mix and pricing to market. Move inventory among stores to maximize retail opportunities

  • Inventory Manager for the market

  • Trains the Used Vehicle Manager and Salespeople on business processes

  • Partners with Service Departments to manage reconditioning of used vehicles

  • Forecasts market results by store

  • Engages and motivates the team to achieve key goals, performance expectations and best practice processes

  • Drives the business through a high-level of involvement in the day-to-day operations

  • Manages controllable expense elements for the market Used Vehicle Departments

  • Organizes auction activities

  • Analyzes the business to determine shortfalls and developing action plans to improve performance

  • Works together with the General Manager and Sales Managers, devise monthly and annual goals for the Sales department

  • Meets budgeted revenue and expense goals

  • Attends pertinent training as available to keep current with sales department concerns and sales techniques

  • Maintains a professional appearance and a neat work area for self

  • Follows all attendance and punctuality standards with adherences to timekeeping standards including recording time of arrival, departure and all breaks for self and subordinates

  • Understands and follows work rules and procedures

  • Follows lawful directions from supervisor

  • Upholds the company's non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements

  • Attends company meetings as required

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent. BA or Associates Degree a plus. Two-three years sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid state driver's license. State salesperson license may also be required. Five year's supervisory experience in prior role.

Preferred Education and Experience

BA or Associate's Degree. Two-three year's sales experience within auto industry .

Additional Eligibility Qualifications (Certification/Licenses/Registrations)

State Salespersons License may be required.
